China-Iran Business Summit and China (Zhejiang) -Iran Industry Cooperation Meeting, organized by the CCPIT, Iran Trade Promotion Organization, the CCPTI Zhejiang Sub-council and Iran-China Industry and Business Association, was held in Tehran, capital of Iran on May 24 local time. Valiollah Afkhami, President of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, Yuan Rongxiang, head of China trade and economic delegation and deputy director of Zhejiang Standing Committee of NPC (National People’s Congress), Wang Jinzhen, vice director of China trade and economic delegation and vice chairman of the CCPIT, Guo Chuanwei, counselor of Business and Economic Department of Chinese Embassy in Iran and Chinese Ambassador to Iran Pang Sen, Wu Guiying, deputy director of China trade and economic delegation and chairman of the CCPTI Zhejiang Sub-council, and Asadollah Asgaroladi, chairman of Iran-China Industry and Business Association attended the opening ceremony of the summit. More than 400 delegates from the commercial industries of China and Iran attended the summit.
Yuan Rongxiang said in his speech that both China and Iran are great ancient civilizations in the “one belt, one road” region. The friendly communications and interactions between the two countries have long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, China and Iran opened up comprehensive and mutually-beneficial cooperation in politics, economy and cultures. China has become the largest trade partner of Iran and as the “China-Iran” railway logistics freight was opened up, the bilateral trade has become more enhanced. As a large manufacturing base, Zhejiang Province has unique advantages in China and the world in the areas of textile and costume, engineering and electronics, food and beverage, electrical information, medical biology and new energy. He hopes that entrepreneurs of both China and Iran shall enhance mutual understanding, explore new business opportunities, and increase trade and investment cooperation through this summit and industry cooperation meeting. The trade promotion institutions of both sides shall play the role of bridge to promote the sustainable development of trade and economic activities.
Wang Jinzhen said in his speech that the trade and economic cooperation between China and Iran has a good foundation. After the economic sanctions against Iran were lifted by western countries, Iran will face more cooperation opportunities with the outside world. More than 70 Chinese companies attended the meeting and some of them are leading companies in the industry, which indicates that more and more Chinese businesses are optimistic about the economic prospect of Iran and are willing to involve into the economic development of Iran. As the largest trade and investment promotion institution of China, the CCPIT is willing to work with Iran to build up more communication and cooperation platforms and create more business opportunities for companies of both countries. The CCPIT will also work hard to encourage more Chinese companies to invest and do business in Iran, promote import from Iran and enhance communication and cooperation with Iran’s commercial industry.
At the opening ceremony the CCPIT and Iran Trade Promotion Organization and Iran-China Commercial and Business Association signed the MOU. CCPIT Commercial Legal Center and Iran-China Commercial and Business Association signed mediation agreement. The CCPTI Zhejiang Sub-council and Iran Trade Promotion Organization and Iran-China Commercial and Business Association signed the friendship cooperation agreement. Zhejiang Shangyu Baozhineng Lighting Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. and another company signed friendly cooperation agreements with their business partners in Iran.
Wu Guiying said that the CCPTI Zhejiang Sub-council and the CCOIC Zhejiang Sub-chamber are actively involved into the implementation of “one belt, one road” strategy. The holding of the business summit and Industry Cooperation meeting raised the level of discussion. The business scope of Zhejiang’s companies attending the summit includes infrastructural building, engineering manufacturing, digital information, textile and costume, energy project, business and trade services. These companies have received warm welcome from their Iranian counterparts. She hopes that Zhejiang companies shall work closely with Iran’s commercial industry to enlarge trade and cooperation and promote mutual progress, and bring more benefits to people of both sides.
At the industry cooperation meeting, Bahrami, officer of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, made an introduction to the investment environment of Iran. There are 185 Iranian companies and more than 70 Chinese companies involved in the discussion. The cooperation intention reached value of 594 million USD.
Before the opening ceremony started, Yuan Rongxiang met with President Valiollah Afkhami, Chairman Asadollah Asgaroladi, deputy chairman Majidreza Hariri and other guests from Iran. Both sides held deep communications about the enhancement of China-Iran trade and economy and increase of industry cooperation. Wang Jinzhen, Ambassador Pang Sen, Counselor Guo Chuanwei, Wu Guiying and director general of Membership Department of the CCOIC Liu Zhenhua attended the meeting.
