Iraq, Egypt and Jordan discuss anti epidemic and energy cooperation

Iraqi, Egyptian and Jordanian leaders held a three party meeting in Baghdad, Iraq, on the 27 day to discuss issues such as fighting COVID-19, boosting the economy, strengthening energy cooperation and combating terrorism.

According to a statement issued by the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq, Iraqi Prime Minister khadimi held a tripartite meeting with visiting Egyptian President Al Sesi and Jordanian King Abdullah II in Baghdad on the same day. Cardimi said in his opening speech that the meeting is an important message to the people of the three countries, that is, the three countries support each other, unite closely and jointly face challenges.

Kadhim said that Iraq, Egypt and Jordan have carried out project cooperation in many fields such as power transmission, agriculture, transportation and financial infrastructure construction. The most important challenges facing the three countries are COVID-19, economic difficulties, security and terrorist threats. The three countries should unify their positions, take joint actions, continue to coordinate regional hot issues such as the conflicts between Syria, Yemen, Palestine and Israel, and help other fraternal countries in the region cope with challenges and overcome crises.

According to the joint statement issued after the meeting, the leaders of the three countries agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in a number of areas, including the transmission of electricity and natural gas between Iraq and Egypt through Jordan, and the construction of oil pipelines between Basra, Iraq and Aqaba, Jordan; Emphasizing the importance of strengthening security and information cooperation among the three countries in combating terrorism, drug trafficking and cybercrime; Iraq and Jordan support Egypt's position on the rehabilitation of the dam.

According to Iraqi media reports, Iraq, Egypt and Jordan have held three leaders' meetings since 2019, focusing on strengthening economic and trade cooperation among the three countries.
