Wang Yi delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Ninth World Peace Forum

State Councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Ninth World Peace Forum at Tsinghua University on March 3 and delivered a keynote speech entitled "safeguarding world peace and promoting human progress".

Wang Yi said that we have just celebrated the centenary of the Communist Party of China in Chongqing. General secretary Xi Jinping reviewed the history and looked forward to the future. He stressed that China's Communist Party is concerned about the future and destiny of mankind and is moving forward with all the progressive forces in the world.

Wang Yi said that the CPC always adheres to peaceful development, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation. Maintaining and practicing true multilateralism is the right direction to solve the complex problems in today's world and effectively deal with all kinds of traditional and non-traditional security challenges. It is the only way to break the zero sum game, resist unilateral bullying, and truly achieve lasting peace and common security. We should jointly deal with the imminent global challenges, jointly promote the political settlement of global hot issues, and jointly oppose all dangerous practices of artificially creating separatist confrontation.

Wang Yi said that China will carry forward the common values of all mankind, actively practice the new concept of security, and work with other countries to build a world of lasting peace and universal security.

The theme of the Ninth World Peace Forum was "international security cooperation in the post epidemic era: maintaining and practicing multilateralism". More than 500 Chinese and foreign guests attended the forum in the form of online and offline.
