The event "Chinese and Myanmar non-governmental organizations warmly celebrate the 70th anniversary of the publication of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence" was held in Yangon, Myanmar on the 19th. The event was jointly organized by the China Peace Development Foundation, the Yangon Chinese Cultural Center, the Myanmar-China Exchange and Cooperation Association, and the Yangon University of Foreign Languages. More than 100 representatives from more than 40 Chinese and Myanmar non-governmental organizations and enterprises, think tanks, media, and universities participated. Qiao Li, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, said at the event that 70 years ago, the older generation of Chinese and Myanmar leaders jointly advocated the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence with high political wisdom and foresight, which became the basic norm of contemporary international relations and injected vitality into China-Myanmar friendship.
China and Myanmar have carried out practical cooperation under the framework of jointly building the "Belt and Road" and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and achieved fruitful results. China will continue to support Chinese and Myanmar non-governmental organizations to strengthen exchanges and practical cooperation, and gather non-governmental forces to jointly build a community of shared future for China and Myanmar. Thu Than Than Nu, daughter of former Myanmar Prime Minister U Nu, reviewed the historical scene of her father and the older generation of Chinese leaders jointly proposing the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and expressed sincere joy and appreciation for the achievements made by China in continuously deepening cooperation with countries including Myanmar under the "Belt and Road" initiative.During the event, participants fully affirmed the important contribution of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to resolving international and regional issues, and jointly wished that the China-Myanmar fraternal friendship would last forever.
