Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Lu Pengqi met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry in Geneva, Switzerland on September 25.
Francis sent his congratulatory message for CCPIT as a long-term observer of the WIPO. He reviewed CCPIT’s efforts in promoting the protection of intellectual property rights since the 1970s and hoped to further cooperation with CCPIT in this regard.
Lu Pengqi conveyed his gratitude for WIPO’s long-term support for CCPIT, saying that CCPIT’s newly-established trade representative office in Geneva will better serve enterprises of China and Switzerland and speak for the business community of both sides.
Deputy representative of CCPIT trade office in Geneva Yu Haiyang addressed the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO. It marks the first time for CCPIT as WIPO’s observer to participate in the Assemblies.
Meanwhile, Lu Pengqi also paid a visit to Ambassador Zhang Xiangchen, China’s permanent representative to the WTO in Geneva on September 22.
Zhang said he hoped CCPIT can speak for Chinese enterprises in the international business community to observe international trade rules and order.
Lu briefed CCPIT’s work in handling trade frictions and intellectual property rights services. Lu said the Geneva trade office will speak for the business community and coordinate with Chinese WTO Delegation.
