Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gao Yan met with Alicia Barcena Ibarra, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC) in Beijing on December 14.
Gao Yan said, the economic and trade cooperation between China, Latin America and Caribbean countries is mutually-beneficial and win-win for both sides. The cooperation is in compliance with the basic interests of both sides, conducive to the common development of both China and Latin America. CCPIT is willing to cooperate with Latin America and Caribbean countries to jointly combat unilateralism and trade protectionism to promote trade and investment facilitation. Both sides shall create more exchange platforms for the Belt and Road construction to ensure open, inclusive, balanced and win-win Sino-Latin American economic and trade cooperation.
Barcena said, UNECLAC and CCPIT have maintained close cooperation and signed a MoU in 2018. China-Latin American bilateral trade has witnessed continuous growth in recent years. There are huge cooperation potentials in infrastructure construction, energy, digital economy, high technology and environmental protection. The UNECLAC supports the Belt and Road construction and is willing to deepen practical cooperation with China by favor of the Belt and Road Initiative to benefit both sides.
