The trade exposition between Panama and China was held in Panama City on December 2, prior to Chinese president Xi Jinping’s visit to Panama.
The exposition, the 11th of its kind held in Panama, invited 26 Chinese enterprises to showcase products and technologies in mechanical engineering, finance, automobiles, shipping, mobile interconnectivity, etc. The expo covers an area of 3,200 square meters.
Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gao Yan, Minister of Commerce and Industries of Panama Augusto Arosemena, Minister of Tourism of Panama Gustavo Him, Panama’s ambassador to China Francisco Escobar Pedreschi attended the opening ceremony of the exposition. Around 300 delegates from Panamanian and Chinese business communities were in attendance.
Gao Yan noted, the exposition is a platform for mutually-beneficial cooperation of the enterprises of both sides. CCPIT is willing to further cooperate with Panama’s business community to offer services for enterprises of both countries to conduct exchanges, B2B match-making, contributing to promoting bilateral economic and trade relations.
Minister Arosemena said, he believed the visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping can elevate the Panama-China cooperation to a new level. This exposition and China-LAC Business Summit in Panama City scheduled for next year will boost bilateral economic and trade cooperation. He hoped Chinese companies can make use of Panama’s location advantage to explore Latin American market.
Guests from China and Panama toured the exposition and exchanged with participating enterprises after the opening ceremony.
