A high-level dialogue on international commercial arbitration among the countries along the “Belt and Road” route was held in Beijing on September 16. The dialogue, jointly hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), invited more than 300 renowned lawyers, arbitrators, representatives from multinational companies from over 10 countries.
When addressing the dialogue, CCPIT Vice Chairman Chen Zhou stressed the importance of assisting enterprises in understanding a fair, reasonable and efficient international commercial dispute settlement for countries along the “Belt and Road” route as more Chinese enterprises are participating in the construction for the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Chen added, CCPIT will work with people from all walks of life to promote the international commercial arbitration affairs, better serve companies along the “Belt and Road” route and boost global trade and investment.
Dr. Mohamed S. Abdel Wahab, Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration said, the ICC is continuously dedicated to the settlement on commercial disputes. His organization will contribute more to the dispute settlement relevant to the countries along the “Belt and Road” route.
The three topics for discussion at the dialogue include dispute settlement, its rules and suggested arbitration agencies, settlement on investment dispute, dispute settlement on project contracting along the “Belt and Road” route.
