Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Ben Chhin toured Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Achievement Exhibition in Phnom Penh on January 12.
The Cooperation Achievement Exhibition is a prelude event for the Second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting. Hosted by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and undertaken by CCPIT, the exhibition showcased the achievements made from the Mekong-Lancang cooperation mechanism since its establishment two years ago, with regard to some key sectors such as infrastructure construction, energy, logistics and internet. The closing date of the exhibition was extended to January 20 at the request of the Cambodian government.
Ben Chhin conveyed his gratitude for China’s decision to extend the exhibition. He said, the Cambodian government will proactively organize governments at all levels, experts, intellectuals and good students to visit the exhibition to learn the achievements in China’s development and Mekong-Lancang cooperation.
Ben Chhin experienced the virtual control panel of China’s bullet train “Fuxing” and praised China Southern Power Grid for its contribution in power connectivity among the countries along the Lancang-Mekong River.
Ben spoke highly of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) as a good example of China-Cambodia economic and trade cooperation, which has largely contributed to deepening the political and economic cooperation as well as people-to-people exchanges.
