MOFCOM Announces Final Ruling on Anti-dumping Investigation against Imported N-butyl Alcohol Origina

On December 28, 2018, MOFCOM released Announcement No. 100 of 2018, announcing the final ruling on the anti-dumping investigation against the imported n-butyl alcohol originating in Taiwan, Malaysia and the US. MOFCOM ruled that dumping existed in the imported n-butyl alcohol originating in Taiwan, Malaysia and the US, the n-butyl alcohol industry in Chinese mainland has been substantively damaged, and there was a causal relationship between the dumping and the substantive damage. MOFCOM decided to impose anti-dumping duty on the above products by 6.0%-139.3% duty rates for five years from December 29, 2018. 

Responding to the application of the domestic n-butyl alcohol industry, MOFCOM launched an announcement on December 29, 2017, deciding to initiate the anti-dumping investigation against the imported n-butyl alcohol originating in Taiwan, Malaysia and the US. After that, China carried out the investigation strictly according to relevant Chinese laws and regulations and the WTO rules. MOFCOM announced the positive preliminary ruling on September 3, 2018 based on the preliminary investigation, and made the above final ruling after a series of further investigations.
