The U.S. dollar increased and stayed a little above the 111-yen line in Tokyo on Monday as market players reacted positively to the unveiling of upbeat Chinese economic statistics and strong U.S. stocks.
At 5 p.m., the dollar was quoted at 111.04-05 yen compared with 110.77-87 yen in New York and 110.74-75 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. on Friday. It moved between 110.88 yen and 111.19 yen during the day.
The euro fetched 1.1238-1239 dollars and 124.79-83 yen against 1.1212-1222 dollars and 124.25-35 yen in New York and 1.1230-1232 dollars and 124.36-40 yen in Tokyo late Friday afternoon.
