TOKYO, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were flat Friday morning, as investors opting to lock in gains early on was later offset by buying prompted by the yen's slide against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 3.26 points, or 0.02 percent, from Thursday to 21,451.78.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 0.35 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,730.39.
Insurance and rubber product issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break, while marine transportation and real estate stocks led those that declined.
