TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran has started to export locally-produced light-duty trucks to the Iraqi autonomous Kurdish region, Financial Tribune daily reported on Tuesday.

Iran's Soroush Diesel Mabna company, the official dealership of South Korea's Hyundai commercial vehicles, has begun to ship its locally-produced light-duty trucks to the Iraqi autonomous Kurdish region, the report said.

Soroush has clinched a deal with the Iraqi side to supply 985 units of its Hyundai trucks by the end of current Iranian calendar year (March 2018), the report said.

Mostafa Taheri, the Soroush CEO said that his company will export the vehicles in two stages.

At the first phase, 500 units of Hyundai trucks will be shipped to Iraq, and the other 485 units will be delivered in the second phase by March 2018, Taheri said.

The price for each truck amounts to 35,000 U.S. dollars, according to the company's website.

Soroush Diesel Mabna has so far produced over 2,200 units of Hyundai's HD65 and HD78 light trucks as well as the H350 minibus in Iran's Salafchegan Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) near the Holy city of Qom in central Iran.

In the first quarter of this year, the Iranian company reached a deal to deliver 200 units of 6 and 8-ton Hyundai vehicles to Afghanistan.
