HONG KONG, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The volume of total exports of goods increased 7.2 percent in Hong Kong for the first half of 2017 from a year ago, while the volume of imports of goods rose 7.7 percent, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) said here on Thursday.
The volume of Hong Kong's re-exports of goods increased 7.3 percent for the first half of this year, while that of domestic exports added 0.5 percent, the C&SD said.
In June 2017, the volume of total exports of goods climbed 9.1 percent, with the volume of re-exports of goods up 9.2 percent and that of domestic exports up 1.2 percent, the C&SD said.
Concurrently, the volume of imports of goods in June increased 8.2 percent, according to the C&SD.
Comparing the second quarter of 2017 with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total exports of goods increased 1.0 percent, the C&SD said.
On the other hand, the volume of imports of goods decreased 1.1 percent, the department said.
