The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train transported 6.61 billion yuan (about 960 million U.S. dollars) worth of goods from January to October, marking a year-on-year increase of 93.6 percent, according to statistics released by Yiwu Customs in China's Zhejiang Province.
Of the total, exports were 5.37 billion yuan, up 97.9 percent year on year; imports were 1.24 billion yuan, up 76.8 percent year on year.
Since its first trip started between China's Yiwu and Spain's Madrid on November 18, 2014, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train has transported 5.05 million TEUs. So far nine freight routes have been launched from Yiwu to Madrid, London, Prague, Riga and cities in Russia and central Asia.
