The Asian infrastructure investment bank announced on the 25th that it has approved a loan of 260 million US dollars for bridge construction projects in Bangladesh.
In a statement on its official website on the same day, the aiib said that the proposed kwat Kali bridge, located in the northern part of Bangladesh, is the country's first steel arch bridge. The completion of the bridge will help ease the congestion in the city, shorten the commuting time of local people, thereby reducing carbon emissions, and promote the flow of people and regional integration in northern Bangladesh, which will benefit 11 million local people. The bridge will also become an integral part of the land corridor from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, to the border between Bangladesh and India through the maimenshin area, so as to promote regional connectivity.
According to reports, the project will use advanced technology to improve the structural performance of the bridge, improve the service life and safety of the bridge.
