The Nepal Immigration Bureau launched an electronic visa system on the 28th to replace the 45-year-old handwritten visa mechanism.
Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Baoder said when he launched the electronic visa system that day, the new system will make Nepal’s visas more credible and help ensure Nepal’s national security.
On the same day, the Nepal Immigration Bureau issued more than 150 digital visas for foreigners at its headquarters, and a Portuguese became the first person to obtain a new visa for Nepal.
According to a statement issued by the Nepal Immigration Bureau, the main features of the new system include holograms, watermarks and QR codes containing visa details. The visa information generated in this way will not be tampered with. The new system helps strengthen the security and management of Nepalese visas. In the first four months of the new fiscal year beginning in mid-July, all offices of the Immigration Bureau will introduce an electronic visa system.
