The Omicron strain has been dominant in Germany

     On the 13 day of the local time, the weekly report released by the German Institute for Disease Control and prevention Robert Koch Institute showed that the mutant strain of the Olympic Games accounted for 73.3% of the existing number of COVID-19 infections in Germany, replacing the longer-term leading delta strain, and the delta strain accounted for 25.9%. A week ago, the Omicron strain accounted for only 44.3% of the existing infections in Germany.

    According to the Institute's data, as of January 10, 9848 cases of Omicron infection had been confirmed in Germany, and another 91311 cases were regarded as suspected cases. In addition, the situation of each federal state is different. In Bremen state with the highest proportion, the proportion of Omicron strain has reached 96%, while in Mecklenburg former pomori state, the proportion of Omicron strain is only about 11%.

   Robert Koch Institute said that the regional differences were mainly due to the strength of strain sequencing test, laboratory records, the delay of data transmission and the spread in metropolis.
