Linyi is located in the southeast of Shandong Province, near the Yellow Sea, South Jiangsu Province. There are 9 counties and 3 development area, among which 2 national development area, 157 towns, 7167 villages. It has population of 10.81 million, total covers 17.2 thousand square kilometers, one third of which is covered by plain, mountain and hill, is the largest city with largest population in Shandong Province.

In 2009, Linyi was selected as one of the 60 Representatives of the Chinese Urban Development on 60th anniversary for New China establishment. In 2011, in Urban Happiness Census among 294 cities of China, Linyi residents ranks the second.

Culture city of 2500 years more history. At the beginning, it’s built as Qiyang city in Chunqiu age, after that, it belonged to Qin dynasty, then was changed to Yizhou province. In 1950, Linyi gotthe current city name. In 1994, it officially got approved by state council as Linyi city. This city has glorious history, two world and domestic famous bamboo slips that Sun Zi’s Art of War, Sun Bin's Art of War are unearthed here. 13 among 72 confucius’s famous confucians are Linyi grew up here. 7 among of China’s 24 famous filial persons are Linyi residents. Zhu Geliang, Wang Xizhi, Yan Zhenqing, and Liu Hong who invented the Abacus are bored or lived here.
