Wang Xizhi’s former residence includes buildings of classical garden style. There are many scenic spots in the residence. It is said that the “calligraphy sage” Wang Xizhi worked hard on calligraphy when he was young and after each drill, he would wash his ink stone in a pond. By and by, the water became black and so the pond got its name the “Ink-Stone Washing Pond.” In the residence, literatures about Wang Xizhi, and his rubbings are on display. One can appreciate the “calligraphy sage’s” handwriting, rubbings and various calligraphic works of contemporary age in Jinmo House, the calligraphy exhibition room and the one-hundred-meter-long calligraphic monuments gallery.
