According to a report by the Bangkok Post in Thailand on August 31, Lazanda, one of Thailand’s largest e-commerce platforms, said that although the weak economy may cause consumers to spend cautiously in the second half of the year, online shopping has become a new consumption model driven by the lockdown of the epidemic. In 2021, Thai e-commerce will continue to grow at a double-digit rate, and by 2022, the proportion of total retail sales will reach double-digit. The total value of e-commerce in Thailand in 2020 is 300 billion baht, an increase of 83% year-on-year; the current online retail accounts for 8% of the total retail sales, which is much lower than the US and China's over 25%.
