On December 22, the National Business Work Conference was held in Beijing. The main tasks of the meeting are: comprehensively study and implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party, strengthen the four “awarenesses", four “confidences”, and two “safeguards", deeply study and understand the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the celebration of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, conscientiously implement the deployment of the Central Economic Work Conference, summarize the business work in 2018, analyze the situation, and deploy work in 2019. Zhong Shan pointed out that since the beginning of this year, facing the complicated domestic and international situation, especially the severe challenges of China-US economic and trade frictions, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the national business system has carried out the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress adhering to Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era. Through working together while facing difficulties, various tasks have been successfully completed and many hard battles were won. The business operation in the whole year was stable and good, and the high-quality development has made positive progress, achieving a good start for the implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress in the business sector.
Zhong Shan said that in the past year, we have thoroughly implemented the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, successfully held the first China International import Expo, properly handled China-US trade frictions, promoted the work of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, explored the construction of a free trade port, and solidly promoted business reform. The development of the eight major action plans has achieved remarkable results. There have been new developments in economic and trade scale, new improvements in quality and efficiency, new breakthroughs in opening up measures, a solid step in building a strong economic and trade country, while the six major tasks were being implemented, the eight major action plans were being advanced, and a well-off society was being built in an all-round way. It has made positive contributions to fighting the three critical battles, securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and accelerating the high-quality development of the economy.
Zhong Shan said that this year is the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. Over the past 40 years, the cause of opening up has undergone numerous tests and achieved great achievements. In the face of a more complicated and grim situation, we must closely follow the new connotation of important strategic opportunities, maintain strategic strength, seize favorable conditions, prevent and resolve risks, be brave enough to act, and act positively to create a new situation in business development.
Zhong Shan demanded that in doing business work in 2019, we should persist in and strengthen the party's overall leadership in business work, adhere to the general tone of steady and upward progress, adhere to the new development concept, persist in promoting high-quality development, and adhere to the supply-side structural reform as the main line. We will work hard in "consolidation, enhancement, improvement, and smoothness", promote all-round opening up, promote the formation of a strong domestic market, increase efforts in the fight against the three major battles, and implement the requirements of the "big business." We will carefully handle the second China International import Expo, do a good job in economic and trade work with the US, speed up the construction of pilot free trade zones and free trade ports, continue to promote the "eight major action plans" for business reform and development, accelerate the construction of an economic and trade power, and greet the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China with outstanding achievements.
Attending were 200 representatives from commercial departments of provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the control of the central government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, sub-provincial capital city and municipalities with independent planning status.
