The 9th Belt and Road Forum opened in Hong Kong on the 11th. The two-day summit forum was co-organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council with the theme of "Building a Connected, Innovative and Green New Silk Road".
The forum brought together about 90 political and business leaders from countries and regions that jointly built the Belt and Road to explore the cooperation opportunities of the next golden decade of the Belt and Road around the eight actions of jointly building the Belt and Road. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said in his speech at the forum that Hong Kong, as China's most open international city, is also a "super connector" and "super value-added person". It can play a key role in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, promote more business cooperation through the Belt and Road, and accelerate Hong Kong's economic growth. He said that Hong Kong can play an important role in promoting sustainable development by developing green technology and green finance and cultivating new quality productivity. Li Yongyan, Deputy Representative of the Ministry of Commerce for International Trade Negotiations, said that the Ministry of Commerce will continue to promote the deepening and substantive economic and trade cooperation of the "Belt and Road". On the one hand, it will accelerate the promotion of two-way open cooperation and further expand the space for Hong Kong to participate in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". On the other hand, it will better play the role of functional platform and support Hong Kong to enhance its status as an international financial, shipping and trade center. In addition, it will jointly promote practical cooperation projects to further enhance Hong Kong's level of participation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road"。
Gou Ping, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, said in his speech that Hong Kong has effectively served the needs of the country with its own strengths, and has continuously demonstrated the role of "super contact person" and "super value-added person". It is an active participant and important contributor in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", and has also become an important partner and bridge for central enterprises to participate in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative". It has played an irreplaceable and unique role in international project investment and financing, professional service support for offshore RMB business, and economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.
Xiao Weiming, deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out in his speech that the National Development and Reform Commission will, in accordance with the deployment requirements of the "Decision" of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, continue to support Hong Kong's full participation and support in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", support Hong Kong to further play the advantages of a two-way open functional platform, consolidate and enhance its status as an international trade center; support Hong Kong to further play the advantages of education, science and technology talents, and continue to implement the "Belt and Road Initiative" scholarship project; support Hong Kong to further play the advantages of multicultural exchanges and play a greater role in promoting the people-to-people connectivity with the countries that jointly build the "Belt and Road Initiative". Peter Lam, chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said that the interconnection between Hong Kong and the vast Chinese mainland market can promote Asia and other regions to "come in". This year's summit will continue to have a "Financial Chapter" and a "Youth Chapter", and will also have a "Green Chapter" for the first time. It will have special group forums on the themes of green construction, green innovation and green finance, allowing participants to discuss how to use the Hong Kong platform to develop green business.
