Tourist Area of Yishui Underground Firefly Water Cave
The Yishui Underground Firefly Water Cave under the Shimishan Mountain is 19 kilometers south of the Yishui county town. It is a well-known mysterious world of fireflies underground. The cave, shaped between 65,000,000 and 230,000,000 years ago, is 1,200 meters long. Apart from plentiful stalactites and other variously-posed stones, there exist fireflies which exclusively live in the dark and wet caves. Walking along the cave and watching the flashing lights, one can’t help assuming he is stepping into a fairyland. As the only cave of its kind in Asia, the Underground Firefly Water Cave is the only one to rival the Fireflies Waitomo Cave in Auckland, New Zealand.
