Strive to build a modern green factory

    At the end of 2021, in the list of the third batch of green design demonstration enterprises of industrial products published on the website of the Ministry of industry and information technology of the people's Republic of China, the name of Nantong COSCO Shipping Kawasaki Shipbuilding Engineering Co., Ltd. came to the eye, which is the only shipbuilding enterprise in China that won this honor.

    It is not the first time that Nantong COSCO Shipping Kawasaki company, which has repeatedly influenced China's shipbuilding industry with the power of an enterprise, has been commended in terms of "green". At the beginning of its establishment, the company has been committed to the construction of green factories from a strategic height and has been commended by local provincial and municipal governments for many times. It can be said that the concept of "green development" has been deeply integrated into the bone marrow of this shipping enterprise. Over the past 26 years since its establishment, the factory has become the "leader" of China's national shipbuilding industry through the management mode of leading the transformation and upgrading of the industry through technical advantages, helping carbon balance through green products, and green technology and process throughout the whole process of product design and manufacturing.
    Comprehensively deepen VOCs governance
    For a long time, Nantong COSCO Shipping Kawasaki consciously abides by the environmental protection regulations and requirements of the state and local governments, adheres to a high sense of social responsibility, and comprehensively promotes the construction of green factories. In accordance with ISO standards, it has successively established and operated four management systems of quality, environment, health and safety and energy, earnestly fulfilled its ecological and environmental responsibilities, earnestly implemented pollution prevention and emission reduction, explored and practiced the in-depth treatment of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), achieved remarkable results and took the lead in the industry.
   The company has specially set up a VOCs emission reduction promotion team composed of professionals from technology, manufacturing, equipment, environmental protection and other departments to systematically study and promote VOCs emission reduction in the whole process of source substitution, process control and end treatment.

    First, use environmental friendly coatings to control from the source. The ship coatings used by Nantong COSCO Shipping Kawasaki all meet the national standards and local government standards, and most of the ship coatings are low VOC content coatings; Second, actively promote water-based coatings to replac alkyd paints, and discuss the introduction of solvent-free coatings to further reduce VOCs emissions from outdoor operations.
