More than 30 medical and traditional Chinese medicine experts from all over the world attended the conference in a combination of online and offline to exchange and discuss the theme "opportunities and challenges of traditional Chinese medicine for human health".

Liang Zhenying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, Lin zhengyue'e, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Tan Tieniu, deputy director of the Hong Kong Central Committee Liaison Office, Ma Jianzhong, chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and Feng Jiu, permanent president of the Hong Kong registered Chinese medicine society, addressed the opening meeting.

Liang Zhenying said that traditional Chinese medicine is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese nation. Traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong has a deep foundation and there is no lack of innovation while inheriting. Hong Kong has a large number of firms engaged in the manufacture of Chinese patent medicine, the processing of Chinese herbal medicine, import and export trade, wholesale and retail, and has a long history of contacting domestic and foreign countries.

Mrs Lam said that traditional Chinese medicine is China's traditional culture and Hong Kong's traditional advantage. In the future, there will be two flagship projects funded by the SAR government to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine. She also pointed out that the most important driving force for the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong is the support of the state and the opportunities of the Great Bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It is hoped that the Chinese medicine industry in Hong Kong will seize the opportunity and make greater contributions to promoting the cause of Chinese medicine and human health.

Ma Jianzhong said that Chinese medicine in Hong Kong has established a solid foundation in legal regulation, scientific research and education and serving the public, and has developed steadily. In the face of the test of the global epidemic, traditional Chinese medicine has made outstanding achievements in the fight against epidemic diseases, highlighting the unique wisdom and value concept of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.

This conference is another international conference related to traditional Chinese medicine held in Hong Kong after the Hong Kong Summit Forum on international traditional Chinese medicine held in Hong Kong in 2018.
