Lourenco said that the two large water supply projects in Luanda, Greater Kironga and Bita, which are built by Chinese companies, will be completed in 2027, and will be expected to meet the water needs of Luanda residents. "The growth rate of Luanda's urban population is far greater than the growth of water resources. After the completion of these two water supply projects, the water problem of 7.5 million people will be solved." He said. China Power Construction Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the construction of seven and three sections of the two water supply projects respectively.
The first section started in March 2017. Joao Borges, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Angola, said that the construction capacity and management experience of Chinese companies in the field of water engineering are trustworthy. In addition to Luanda, Chinese companies have also completed many important water supply projects in many provinces of Angola. "These projects have great social significance and fundamentally reduce the diseases and deaths caused by drinking water pollution among Angolan people."
