Xinhua News Agency, Algiers, November 11 (Reporter Xu Yongchun) China Railway Construction Algeria Western Railway Mining Line Project Hasihebi Sleeper Factory in Tindouf Province was officially put into production on the 10th, marking the full launch of the railway project track engineering. This is the first time that the sleeper solution designed by a Chinese company has been used in a local heavy-duty railway project.
At the commissioning ceremony held on the same day, Mustafa Dahou, Governor of Tindouf Province, expressed his gratitude to China Railway Construction and local construction parties for their joint efforts, and the project construction was satisfactory.
Dong Lin, general manager of China Railway Construction International Group North Africa Regional Company, introduced that this is the first standardized railway concrete sleeper factory of a Chinese company in the Sahara Desert, covering an area of 91,000 square meters and equipped with two automated circular sleeper production lines to provide sleepers for the heavy-duty railway project of the Western Railway Mining Line.
The project team took measures such as reserved sand discharge holes during the sleeper design process to improve the stability and durability of the track, ensure the safety of railway operation, and reduce maintenance costs. The improved sleepers produced were recognized by the owner and promoted throughout the line.
The Western Algerian Railway Mining Line Project is a large-scale single project undertaken by Chinese companies in Algeria, jointly implemented by China Railway Construction Corporation and Algerian state-owned enterprises. The main content of the project is to build a 575-kilometer railway connecting the country's Bechar Province and the Garajbilet iron ore area in Tindouf Province. After the completion of the project, it will further improve Algeria's national railway network, realize the connection between mining areas, industrial areas and ports, and help the interconnection and economic development of the southwestern provinces of Algeria.
