Valletta, November 9 (Xinhua) (Reporter Chen Wenxian) Chris Bonnet, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works of Malta, said on the 9th that Chinese electric vehicles are technologically advanced and cost-effective, and he expects more Chinese electric vehicles to enter the Maltese market in the future.
The launching ceremony of the "Hello! China" tourist theme bus, co-organized by the Malta Chinese Cultural Center and the Santa Lucia Municipal Government, was held on the 9th at the Chinese classical garden "Jingyuan" in Santa Lucia. Three pure electric buses imported from China and put into operation in Malta were sprayed with patterns of famous Chinese attractions and cultural heritage such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the West Lake, the Guilin landscape, the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, and the Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an, and officially debuted at the gate of "Jingyuan".
Bonnet delivered a speech at the ceremony, saying that these pure electric buses let everyone see that Malta, China and other countries in the world must cooperate to cope with common challenges such as climate change and sustainable development. China is one of the leaders in providing sustainable transportation solutions. Cooperation with China will not only help Malta accelerate the green transformation of transportation, but will also further consolidate the long-term friendly relations between the two countries.
In an interview with Xinhua News Agency, Bonnet said that thanks to China's excellent manufacturing industry and advanced electric vehicle technology, electric vehicles have become more affordable, which will help the government encourage people to buy electric vehicles. It is great to see more and more Chinese technologies put into practice, and China's leapfrog achievements in scientific and technological innovation are "amazing".
Santa Lucia Mayor Charmaine St. John said that this event fully demonstrated the common commitment of Malta and China in sustainable development and cultural exchange, and the patterns on the buses will open a window for the Maltese people to understand Chinese culture.
Yuan Yuan, director of the Malta Chinese Cultural Center, said that these pure electric buses are not only means of transportation, but also flowing symbols of cultural exchange, carrying Chinese stories, colors and spirits, and bringing a different Chinese cultural experience to the Maltese people.
Cliven Ashak, a local bus driver with 14 years of driving experience, told reporters that China's pure electric buses are advanced in technology, safe and comfortable, and he is proud to drive them. "These pure electric buses painted with beautiful Chinese scenery will add a beautiful green landscape to Malta's transportation."
