CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan made a field trip to the China-aided Juncao Demonstration Center and Ba River Delta iron ore project in Fiji on November 19.
The China-aided Juncao Demonstration Center is a technology assistance project identified and promoted by both presidents of China and Fiji which is carried out by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. It has been developed into an important demonstration base for Juncao industry in Pacific island countries, including a demonstration area for mango-fungus intercropping, a demonstration training workshop and auxiliary facilities. After hearing out briefings about the project, Gao Yan visited the planting base, workshop and multimedia center and spoke highly of the project and its contribution to deepening China-Fiji economic cooperation. She also took her regards to the Chinese expert team and stationing staff there.
Contracted by CCCC First Harbor Consultants Co., Ltd (FDINE), Fiji Ba River iron ore project is the largest Chinese project in Fiji and also the first overseas fine iron ore project on shallow sea by a Chinese company. Gao Yan noted, marrying Chinese advantages in technology, equipment and management with the abundant local resources, this project has big development potential and good economic prospects. She expressed her hope that FDINE continues to explore the business model of integrating construction and operation to make this project a model for China-Fiji win-win cooperation.
Chairperson Gao Yan was accompanied by Commercial Counselor Li Zhi of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji during the trip.
