Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gao Yan held a meeting with President of Panama Juan Carlos Varela in Panama City on December 3.
President Varela said, Chinese president Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Panama will further promote the friendship between Panamanian and Chinese people. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations in June 2017, the bilateral ties have achieved great progress. Panama is confident for the future of bilateral relations. Panama supports the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to foster cooperation with China in investment, port transportation, free trade zone, etc. to elevate bilateral trade levels.
Gao Yan said, CCPIT expresses gratitude for President Varela’s participation in the Panama-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum. Gao noted, the business communities of both countries have achieved progress in cooperation in the past one year. The 13th China-LAC Business Summit will be held in Panama City next year. CCPIT will closely cooperate with Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama to ensure the success of the summit. CCPIT is willing to cooperate with Panama to create more exchange platform for business communities of both countries to boost bilateral economic and trade ties.
Gao Yan also accompanied President Varela to tour the Panama-China Trade Exposition.
